Are you ready to improve your AIM teaching practice? A refresher is just what you need! This course will reinforce the AIM approach and will help you drive deeper student engagement.

This is a NEW workshop for AIM teachers! It is designed to provide extensive hands-on experience with a few aspects of AIM that teachers often need to review and reinforce. It is a preparatory workshop for success with Level 3 Up your Game with AIM workshop, which meets the needs of more experienced AIM teachers.

Pre-requisite:
In order to register for this workshop and to participate fully in all the activities, you must confirm that you:

  • know all of the gestures from a Step One kit.
  • have actively used AIM in the past two years.
  • have implemented a Step One kit in full. You know how to model all the basic language manipulation activities up to and including Questions Partielles.

If you are not able to answer 'yes' to the above, we recommend that you register for a Level 1 Training.

Don't miss out! There will be live demonstration classes with students given by AIM Creator, Wendy Maxwell.

We solve many of the challenges language teachers face.

Learn about some of the challenges Primary School Teachers face when teaching languages.

    The Gesture Approach

The AIM is a methodology that supports students by providing strategies and techniques that ensure student language acquisition and a high level of engagement. The Gesture Approach allows students to visualize, hear, say and 'feel' the language simultaneously, and this results in rapid proficiency development.

    A Literacy- and Arts-Based Approach

Through the use of story and drama, songs, raps, and dances, students are moving to the language as they create meaning. Scaffolding and cooperative learning strategies help all students - the shy, weak, and strong - to find great support and success.

    High-Frequency Vocabulary

One of the most essential aspects of AIM that ensures student success is the high-frequency vocabulary (Pared-Down Language) that threads throughout every aspect of this methodology. AIM is designed such that each word is repeated extensively, allowing students to develop a strong foundation for language proficiency.
